John Legend’s sax player to perform at The Garden

Korey Riker will join the jazz band at the Dubai Marina pop-up bar

Nightlife & Music

John Legend blew Dubai Jazz Fest out of the park last weekend, due in no small part to his phenomenal band.

Luckily for us, it’s not the last we’ll hear of Legend’s saxophone player, who is taking up his woodwind for one last jam at The Garden on Wednesday night (February 28).

Korey Riker, who blew crowds away at the Media City Amphitheatre on Thursday, will join the weekly jazz band at #DXBExperiments for a one-off performance at the outdoor pop up.

The limited-run bar is the second in a series of pop-ups designed to get us all out and about during these cooler months (it runs until the end of April) and is indeed an homage to the great outdoors.

With foliage-a-plenty, garden-style furnishings and trendy filament lights, you almost feel as though you’re in your own back yard – if you have neighbouring jazz musicians, anyway.

The resident band welcome you in and entertain you through a range of Scottish malt based beverages, much of which are created using herbs grown inside The Garden’s own walls and cost around Dhs50 apiece.

Philadelphia-based Riker has spent the last year touring the world performing with John Legend and Freddie Jackson, and will be moving onto China during the next leg of the tour.

The night is a must for jazz lovers, mixed-drink connoisseurs, and gardeners alike.

If you want to learn more about Riker, you can peruse to your heart’s content at www.koryriker.com.

We’ll see you by the vegetable patch.

Wed Feb 28, 6-pm-11pm. Le Royal Méridien Beach Resort & Spa - Dubai Marina  (04 399 5555).
