Jazz is on the up in Dubai.
We recently covered the news that iconic London jazz club Ronnie Scott’s will be hosting a regular night at Soho Garden (the massive nightlife complex in Meydan). Elsewhere, jazz musician Richard Simon Kennedy has just tied down a residency at The Lion by Nick & Scott’s Friday brunch – having previously performed at the aforementioned Ronnie Scott’s.
Now, one of La Mer’s licensed venues is launching a jazz night of its very own.
Masti, found at the Southern stretch of the sprawling Meraas development (which itself is about to open a new waterpark), has launched the G & Jazz night, which it says is an evening “dedicated to flavour and fun”.
Every Monday from 8.30pm until 11pm, there will be some live jazz (featuring local singer Layla Kardan, who will also be appearing at Seven Sisters regularly) casually setting the mood.
In addition to some top music from Dubai’s home-grown artists, everyone who heads along will be able to get their hands on three free juniper mixed drinks, handcrafted by the bar’s dedicated mixologists.
Recently opening just up the way from Masti is Stars ‘N’ Bars at La Mer, which swung its doors open in April and hosts a weekly night from Time Out Dubai’s Best Original Band of 2018, Carl & The Reda Mafia.
La Mer is taking off, and it’s bringing jazz, funk and fun with it.
G & J every Monday 8.30pm-11pm. Regular opening hours Sat-Wed noon-midnight; Thu-Fri noon-2am. Masti, La Mer South, Jumeirah 1 (04 344 4384).
