Newton Faulkner to play in Dubai

The British singer-songwriter is performing at PizzaExpress Live

British singer-songwriter Newton Faulkner will be playing live in Dubai this month. And the best news? It’s free entry.

The singer will be taking to the stage at PizzaExpress Live in Business Bay on Friday June 29. Plus, there will be support from local band Vandalye.

All you need to do is call up the pizza restaurant and put your name on the list to attend. There won’t be any seated dining on the night, but a special simple food menu will be on offer, with classic pizzas including Margherita and American versions to keep you going. There will also be a bar snacks menu to choose from, too. Minimum spend is Dhs100 per person.

Famous for songs including Dream Catch Me, I Need Something and Teardrop, the English singer is popular for his guitar skills and folksy style.

The event starts at 8pm, with DJ Luitik warming up the crowd. At 9pm Dubai-based original band Vandalye will take to the stage.

The three-piece acoustic group, who hail from the UK, have some cracking songs, and they even opened for Elton John at his Dubai gig last year.

Faulkner will perform at 10.15pm, with DJ Luitik closing the show.

The latest branch of the popular global pizza chain opened in the DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai – Business Bay in February.

The restaurant hosts plenty of live music as well as comedy shows alongside serving up all your favourite pizzas (and don't forget the garlic doughballs).

The chain was founded in 1965 in London by Peter Boizot, and now has nearly 500 branches across the UK alone. This will be seventh for Dubai, with popular locations including Jazz@PizzaExpress in JLT and PizzaExpress at Dubai World Trade Centre.

We'll see you by the stage, pizza slice in hand.
Open daily noon-1am. DoubleTree by Hilton Dubai – Business Bay, Bay Square (055 710 0403).
