Eid 2017 holiday dates announced for government employees

One of the most celebrated holidays will begin on June 25 or June 26

The dates of Eid al-Fitr holiday for government and federal ministries in the UAE have been announced, meaning one of the year’s biggest celebrations is just around the corner.

State news agency WAM has confirmed the holiday for federal government employees will begin on Saturday 24 June – the 29th day of Ramadan. Should the moon-sighting committee determine Eid itself to begin on Sunday 25, work will resume on Wednesday 28. However, staff will be entitled to a full week’s holiday should Eid fall on Monday June 26, with work resuming on Sunday July 2.

Based on the moon’s current pattern, it is widely expected that Eid will fall on Sunday June 25.
