The Eloquent Elephant
This modern, cool gastropub has a top-notch menu. The pies are homely and hearty, fish and chips are crisp and tasty while super roasts will make your weekend a winner.

HIGHLY COMMENDED

The Dubliner’s
Cottage pie fan? This is where you want to be heading for your weekend comfort grub. The deliciously moreish dish is one of many homely pub grub classics.
Open daily noon-2am. Le Méridien Dubai Hotel & Conference Centre, Garhoud (04 702 2455).

The Lion by Nick & Scott
As well as promotions around the football, brunches and daily deals (pie and a pint, anyone?) this pub has a menu of pub grub classics. Don’t miss the excellent sausage rolls.

Bridgewater Tavern
A top spot for sport watching, music, happy hour and excellent pub grub, from chicken wings to burgers, calamari to a salmon salad.

Fibber Magee’s
One of Dubai’s tiniest pubs, Fibber Magee’s serves traditional Irish comfort food such as bangers and mash, cottage pie and fish and chips.

JB’s Gastropub
Dishing up an eclectic menu of British and American favourites, JB’s is a lively, fun venue where you can enjoy sharing platters, sausages by the metre and smoked meats washed down by rare barrel-aged beverages.

McGettigan’s JLT
Serving the original long, late breakfast until 3pm, this is the place for your full Irish fry-up while lunch and dinner offerings include burgers and meaty mains along with soups, salads and snacks such as the famous ‘chip butty’.

Reform Social &Grill
From a full English breakfast to a traditional weekend roast, this menu guarantees a true gastropub experience for the whole family.

The Irish Village
Sample a traditional Irish menu, from boiled ham and cabbage to a famous Irish stew. You can even buy a loaf of Irish soda bread and take it home.

The Ship’s Wheel
This is British pub grub at its best and while a recent revamp introduced fancier fare such as dynamite shrimps, duck spring rolls and sizzling chicken fajitas, the classics such as burgers, curries, pies and roasts remain.
