One of Dubai’s most romantic beachside restaurants reopens

Shimmers is back with brand-new Greek dishes and Burj Al Arab Jumeirah views

Sunsets, sundowners and all the feta cheese and olives you can manage – screams romance, doesn’t it?

And if, like us, that’s your idea of an ideal date then you’ll join us in racing down to the shoreline of Shimmers, which has reopened after a summer hiatus.

A former nominee for Dubai’s Best Romantic Restaurant at our Restaurant Awards, the seaside spot brings a taste of the Mediterranean to the Middle East – or more specifically, a taste of Myknonos to Madinat Jumeirah.

The beach-chic restaurants boasts a brand-new menu, too, including “fresh treasures of the sea”.

Highlights include astakou giouvetsi, a traditional orzo pasta cooked with fresh lobster and roasted veggies, gamopilafo, a succulent lamb stew and paidakia, tender lamp chops with sautéed potatoes sprinkled with feta cheese.

Expert bar staff are on hand to help pair the dishes with a premium glasses of grape, classic mixed drinks or Greek shorts.

It is an open-air restaurant set just metres from the sea, in the shadows of the Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, and has been rightly, if quietly, popular for years.

With the well-executed menu bursting with dishes that taste even better than they look, it’s not just the prime piece of real estate that makes Shimmers so successful.

Plus, all that romancing and olive eating.
Open daily noon-5pm, 6pm-12.30am. Mina A’ Salam, Madinat Jumeirah, book restaurants@jumeirah.com (04 432 3232).
