Love authentic Sri Lankan food? Looking to dine on a shoestring? Your day just got better.

Time Out Dubai’s Best Budget Restaurant, Ayubowan, has reopened after being shut for the summer, and we couldn’t be happier about it.
Ayubowanin JLT, shut earlier this year for some repairs to the kitchen.

The petite restaurant picked up the Best Budget gong at this year’s Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards, fighting off some tough competition. So we’re thrilled to have it back up and running, especially as there are some hot new deals.

Serving up typical Sri Lankan cooking, expect to feast on a variety of fragrant curries. One of the first things you’ll notice about Ayubowan is the amazing smell – scents of curry and fresh spices greet you as soon as you walk through the large wooden doors.

Staff are friendly and welcoming and with curries starting from just Dhs20, you’re in for a bargain night out, especially when the portions are generous.

And this week there's a special event. The Colombo Street Food Festival is back on Thursday (November 8) from 7pm until 11pm, for an authentic Sri Lankan street food fest that you don't want to miss.Expect dishes including kottu roti with chicken or beef, paratha with dallo curry and Sri Lankan fruit salad. And it's all just Dhs50 a head.

Meanwhile on Friday (November 9) you can get a breakfast buffet from 10am until 2pm for just Dhs25.

The restaurant has also now launched a “budget meal plan”. There are also new combo deals starting from just Dhs25 for a starter, main course and drink.

The restaurant is also introducing a brand-new menu on January 1, 2019.

Our advice? Don’t miss the potato mustard curry – and mark your diary for that new menu.
Open daily 10am-11pm. Cluster N, JLT (056 320 1986).
