New Middle Eastern restaurant open in The Dubai Mall

It’s promising authentic Middle Eastern food with a contemporary twist

You’ve worked your way around the mall and now you need somewhere to rest your weary feet – preferably while shovelling down something hearty.

Asma restaurant is now open at The Dubai Mall and it looks like the perfect place for a post-shopping refuel.

The Middle Eastern restaurant is owned by three Emirati sisters whose love for food was passed down by their mother, and it’s promising to serve up all manner of home-cooked grub.

The idea is to combine the old with the new, bringing together culinary traditions with contemporary touches.

We’re being told to expect the flavours of Lebanon, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt and Syria, with dishes including the likes of meat shakshuka and musakhan and beetroot labneh.

The menu includes small plates like Asma’s arayes and main courses including sea bream chermoula, octopus, smoked tomato prawns, lamb cutlets and Middle Eastern kebab.

For dessert you can get stuck into a load of sugary goodness including saffron knafe, caramelised pineapple, Turkish coffee ice cream and spicy chocolate mousse.

The restaurant seats up to 100 people and sharing-style dining will be encouraged across the casual restaurant.

There’ll also be a “conceptual courtyard” beyond he counter with greenery and multi-layered illuminated panels, with a light and open feel.

We can’t wait to get up to the eyes in shakshuka.
Open daily 9am-midnight. Dubai Mall, Downtown Dubai (04 394 0646).
