There’s hot food that gives you that warm and fuzzy feeling in your belly, but then there’s the Fire Roll – a roti that will leave you feeling fiery.
Launching today (Wednesday January 16) on International Hot and Spicy Food Day, Roti Rollers has introduced a new wrap infused with chillis, and there’s a challenge that comes along with it.
The roti roll is filled with chicken tikka, yellow peppers, red cabbage, onion, burnt chilli and fennel, combined with a special fire sauce and tikka masala.
Sound tasty? It’s called a fire roll for a reason, so foodies can also expect a wild mix of supremely spicy chilis, including the dreaded naga ghost chilli – one of the hottest chillis in the world.
It’s apparently so hot that the restaurant will make diners sign a waiver before digging into what will definitely give you some serious heartburn.
The fire roll is priced at Dhs40, but if you can finish it in under 30 minutes, it’s free of charge. Better yet, winners of the challenge will get a cap that says “Member of the Fire Club”.
That’s some well-deserved street cred.
For something a lot less spicy, vegetarians or Star Wars fans can try the restaurant’s new “Darth Vada”, pav bread that’s wrapped with potatoes, curry leaves, mustard seed, garlic, red chilli, coconut and coriander.
A Vada is like an inside out potato burger, and is one of the most popular South East Asian street snacks around.
