Uyghurs cuisine isn’t the type of food you stumble upon every day in Dubai. But now the city’s discerning diners will be able to try out some new central Asian dishes, thanks to a brand-new restaurant.
OSH is now open in La Mer and we went down for a nosey around.
Set over two floors, there’s an outdoor terrace that affords views out over the beach and sea. The team promise a “contemporary oriental space” that’s “luxury-modern". It's housed at the North end of the beach complex, near Stars 'N' Bars.
The restaurant will be open all day, serving breakfast, lunch and dinner. It’s also licensed and there will a dedicated mixed drinks bar too.
OSH is a central Asian-inspired restaurant from London and we're thrilled it's made its way to Dubai.
Set in the trendy Beauchamp Place – which is also home to the famous Ciro’s Pizza Pomodoro, Chisou and Maroush – OSH London opened in March last year. Although the Dubai version is set on a beach rather than in a townhouse, we’re hoping for a similar style of dining.
The team hasn’t revealed the menu yet but we’re expecting a “leading selection of Urguyes cuisine, with delicacies from the grill as well as authentic Central Asian dishes with a modern twist”.
And if it’s anything like the London version we’re in for a treat. Dishes on the Knightsbridge list include pickled Asian cherry tomatoes, tiger prawns, soft shell crab, aubergine tartare, marinated peppers and Uzbek tomato carpaccio.
Larger dishes include butternut squash manti or lamb manti (essentially dumplings) as well as Uzbek Osh – slow-cooked lamb with chickpeas, veg and Uzbek spices, as well as a variety of shashlik, miso-glazed Chilean sea bass, black cod and rabbit with truffles.
OSH joins Stars 'N' Bars and Masti as licensed venues in the cool beachside location.
Open daily 10am-midnight. La Mer North, Jumeirah 1, www.oshrestaurant.com.
