Former Zuma and Play chef Reif Othman is teaming up with a fast food café to throw a one-off dining experience in La Mer.

Othman will be heading to Roti Rollers at La Mer on Sunday (February 10) and will be whipping up a three-course meal for one night only.

The “East meets West” event will see Othman join chef Sameer, head chef of Roti Rollers, for a special collaboration.

The dinner will include a round of starters, a main and two desserts, along with free-flowing soft drinks, all for Dhs299.

Othman will be bringing Singaporean flavours to the Indian menu.

“I am a firm believer in supporting homegrown establishments that are challenging their culinary genius to put forth innovative and tasteful dishes," said Othman. "Roti Rollers is known for injecting global influences to staple South Asian fast food with a healthy twist, and I forward to working with the team to amalgamate the worlds of street fare and fine-dining through our collaboration.”

The family-family restaurant serves up fast food-style sandwiches, and as you’d expect, the star of the show here is the roti. Billed as “Indian street food with a twist”, there’s a huge variety to pick from on a fun-packed menu.Dishes on the regular menu include lambshank redemption, ozzy osprawn, hen stefani or burroti. Our pick is game of potatoes, which is packed with potato dabeli, mango and tikka masala sauce.

“We have incorporated rolls inspired from Spain, Japan, America, and world over, and now with Reif Othman on board, I am sure there is room for some Singaporean inspiration,” said chef Sameer. “The experience will be as educational for me as it will be exciting."

We look forward to seeing what they have in store.
