Try the chocolate coconut scoop for a bit of plant-based goodness

Vegan ice cream flavour launched by Jelly Belly in Dubai

It's getting easier and easier to go vegan in Dubai, with brunches and afternoon teas all going plant-based – but what about when you're desperately craving a scoop of delicious chocolate ice cream?

The good news is that Jelly Belly has just launched its first vegan variety, using coconut milk instead of animal products.

The chocolate flavour offers a gourmet indulgence and joins a range of 12 dairy-free sorbets already on offer at the company's eight branches in the UAE.

It's made without milk, milk fat or eggs – instead using coconut milk, vegan Belgian dark chocolate and coconut powder before being enriched with coconut flakes and vegan fudge.

For the dairy-lovers among us, Jelly Belly is also introducing two new flavours celebrating the cuisine of India and the Philippines.

Try the rich and creamy, Kulfi blend twisted with cardamom, rose water, pistachio and mango – finished off with roasted pistachios and almonds. Or go for the Ube, a well-balanced ice cream made with purple yam.

The ice cream parlour already offers a staggering 50 different tastes inspired by the company's trademark jelly beans, including favourites such as Very Cherry, Tutti Frutti and Triple Chocolate.

More bizarrely, you can even try Carrot Cake, Apple Pie or Birthday Cake if you fancy something a bit more experimental.

Jelly Belly promises that they're using only the "finest natural ingredients" to give a true-to-life taste, and prices start from Dhs28 per two scoops.

The company has eight parlors across the UAE - La Mer, Al Seef, Deira City Centre Mall, Al Majaz, Zero 6 Mall, Dalma Mall, Al Jimi Mall, and Ajman City Centre – with a ninth opening soon at Bluewaters Dubai.

You scream, I scream, we all scream for ice cream. Especially the vegan kind.
Various locations. Open 9am-12pm. For more information, go to jellybellyicecream.com.
