28 outdoor brunches to try this month

Look outside – the weather is delightful. And what better way to spend your weekend than by dining in the great outdoors? The sweaty summer will soon be upon us and many brunches will shut up their terraces and operate indoors, so now’s the time to make the most of the beautiful sunny skies and brunch al fresco.

BEACHSIDE BRUNCHES
Breeze Beach Grill
Is there a more perfect Friday than spending the day with your toes in the sand and a cold pint in your hand? Breeze Beach Grill serves up a super beach brunch every week, and if you’re lucky, you’ll bag one of the tables on the sand. Set at the far end of Club Vista Mare, Palm Jumeirah, you’ll be treated to sweeping views of Dubai’s coastal skyline. The buffet offers sushi, salads, roasts and more and there’s a massive cake station for dessert. Life really is a Breeze here...

BLOWOUT BRUNCHES
Brasserie 2.0
This is a super brunch. If you’re a buffet fan you’ll love it, if you’re not – get ready to be converted. There’s a load of live cooking stations both indoors and out (think curries, grills, taco stations and slider bars) plus live entertainment. The terrace is an excellent al fresco spot. It’s laid-back and fun.

Bubbalicious
If you haven’t heard of Bubbalicious, you’re either new to Dubai or a non-bruncher. This longstanding party brunch is a popular option with partygoers, families and more. It’s not the best in the city in terms of food – but there’s plenty of it. There’s a massive buffet, heaps of live counters, drinks stations and live entertainment. Time to take advantage of the weather by chilling out on the vast terrace.
Dhs420 (soft drinks), Dhs520 (sparkling), Dhs620 (bubbly), free (kids under 12). Fri 1pm-4pm. The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi Beach Resort & Marina, Al Sufouh (04 511 7139).

Jumeirah Al Qasr
The buffet brunch to end all buffet brunches, Al Qasr features loads of live drinks stations and hundreds of dishes across three different restaurants – American steakhouse The Hide, Spanish tapas spot Al Hambra and international dining room Arboretum. However, make sure you walk around the whole layout before starting or you might miss something delicious. With a sizeable outdoor terrace overlooking the waterways of Madinat Jumeirah and offering views of Burj Al Arab Jumeirah, it’s even possible to hop on an abra after brunch to take you around the resort.
Dh480 (soft drinks), Dhs577 (house beverages), Dhs674 (bubbly), free (kids under four). Fri 12.30pm-4pm. Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 432 3232).

Jumeirah Mina A’Salam
This brunch is focuses on table-side panache in addition to the sizeable buffet. During the afternoon, chefs bring round various dishes including salmon and beef Wellington, which is finished live in front of diners’ eyes. While the spread here isn’t as grand as other buffet brunches, there are still plenty of solid options – with lots of drinks stations dotted around (although only grape is served to the table – you’ll need to collect everything else yourself). Mina A’Salam attracts a more grown-up crowd than the more family-friendly buffets at other Jumeirah hotels, and the surroundings are extremely elegant – nab yourself a table on the terrace over the water if you can.
Dhs475 (soft drinks), Dhs575 (house beverages) Dhs675 (bubbly), free (kids under 12). Fri 12.30pm-4pm. Madinat Jumeirah, Umm Suqeim (04 366 6162).

Recently crowned the No. 1 in the city, it’s not to be missed. A chic, Creekside meal – the outdoor space on at The Promenade is taken over by tables, and a live band, for the swanky event every Friday. It’s one of the priciest offerings in the city, but the quality and choice justifies it. Don’t miss the stunning display of top-notch, super-fresh seafood, extensive cheese table and live cooking stations, plus there’s a dedicated dessert room.

Much like Marina Social this is a top brunch whatever time of year, but for the best experience the terrace is where it’s at. There’s a fun, upbeat party vibe and the food is excellent (taking Highly Commended in the Best MENA restaurant category). If you have family, friends or a date you want to impress, this swanky Thai restaurant is for you. It’s officially called a lunch (we said this was a classy affair) but it has beverage packages. The restaurant has an intimate terrace set out into the water surrounding Burj Khalifa, so you’ll have excellent views of the world’s tallest building from your front-row vantage spot. And being in the water you’re so close to The Dubai Fountain you’re practically in the show. Food-wise you can expect the restaurant’s signature dishes including green Thai curry, pad Thai, dim sum and papaya salad. And it’s all completely delicious.

Bread Street Kitchen
This top family-friendly gathering from British chef Gordon Ramsay even has an ice cream parlour for the little ones. The garden is taken over by childrens’ activities (we’re not kidding, if you’re dining as a couple you might be best elsewhere) including a bouncy castle and face painting. Food-wise expect classic British dishes including mini fish pies, sausage rolls and sliders, plus à la carte mains. Plus kids get free entry into the Lost Chambers aquarium afterwards, too.

NOÉPE
Head along to this chilled-out spot at Dubai Creek for a cracking lobster bake. This cute Cape Cod-inspired restaurant boasts delightful views over the water and the yachts.
