You know it’s a party when some kind of firework goes off. And at STK you’ll get them by the bottle-load. Literally. Flaming, fizzing and sparkling bubbly bottles go past the tables at a rate of knots as revellers eat and dance at this JBR party brunch.

At Dare to Brunch, STK promises the “ultimate blend of food-meets-party” and the crowd are dressed up to the nines.

With sister restaurants in London, New York and Miami, the uber-trendy steakhouse brand fits well with Dubai’s nightlife and dining scene.

The space is cool and moodily lit, with bold artwork and pretty cherry blossom trees.

It’s a brunch that’s become better and better over the past year, when it started with some minor hiccups. Now it’s a well-oiled machine, and it’s massively popular week in, week out.

The dining room itself is dark, so it immediately has a nightclubby vibe, while drinks service is super-swift, too.

Food is mostly top-notch (on occasion steaks can come out not as ordered, which is frustrating, but rapidly fixed), so it’s not a party brunch where you’ll go home hungry, either.

Starters are shared and include a platter of oysters, burrata, beef tartare and some hefty prawns. All are excellent, especially the tartare, which is delicate, fresh and flavoursome. The prawns are big and juicy.

For mains there’s a choice of fillet, striploin, roasted salmon and porcini risotto. Steaks are tender, juicy and tasty – and you’ll certainly get your money worth as this is a pricey place for dinner.

The sides are also tremendous, including creamy mac’n’cheese, crunchy green veg and crisp fries.

As the brunch goes on, the atmosphere picks up and dancers flail energetically on raised platforms surrounding dining tables in the restaurant to lively music. Expect a roaming saxophonist, too, with diners also getting up on their feet.

The atmosphere is excellent, the crowd is lively and steaks are top. A party brunch with substance.
