A lazy weekend brunch with all the holiday feels

Saturdays are made for sitting in the sunshine, chatting with friends. And it seems like restaurateurs in Dubai agree. There’s a growing number of brunches being held on a Saturday – and we’re fully on board with anything that draws out our weekends in the best possible ways.

Villamoré on the Palm boasts a lazy “Barefoot Lunch”, which is exactly how it sounds – chilled-out, casual and with all of the holiday feels.

The Mediterranean restaurant opened earlier this year at the flashy Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai on Palm Jumeirah. It’s one of several eateries in the hotel, and by far the most low-key (there’s no marbling or gold at this seaside spot for a start). The restaurant is set right next to the beach, so grab a seat on the terrace and soak up the views.

As part of the package you can also enjoy pool and beach access – which makes this brunch actually quite a bargain – so bring your swimmers and make the most of the day.

The venue itself is white-washed and charming while staff are super-friendly and efficient.

Being a Mediterranean restaurant, this al fresco spot serves up dishes from regional Italy and the French Riviera with elements of Levant cuisine.
The brunch itself is fairly simple – it’s all sharing, so you’ll get a selection of starters, two mains and a dessert platter. It also includes a trip to the antipasti room – which we’ve waxed lyrical about before. And the spread actually outshines the starters. Load up on crusty bread, frittata, dips and salads – including a delicious made to order Caesar. Cold cuts are flavoursome, while the selection of cheese is an excellent way to kick off a meal.

Salads, oysters and a tasty tuna tartare come to the table too – meaning it’s heaving under the weight of the dishes.

There’s not a huge amount of choice when it comes to mains, and there’s a lack of fish for a Mediterranean restaurant, so don’t be afraid to go big when it comes to appetisers.

However, dishes are tasty and fresh and include steak tagliata, marinated baby chicken and lemon risotto – which is fragrant and citrussy.

Desserts are delicate and well presented and include a fragrant orange almond cake and rich flourless chocolate cake.

Pack your beachgear, order up a glass of pink grape, sit back and take in the views – this is one al fresco brunch you must try before the season’s up.
