Foodies, it’s time to make a date in Dubai Media City, as a brand-new restaurant from popular chefs Nick Alvis and Scott Price is ready to throw open its doors.

Verve Bar & Brasserie is set to open next week at the new Grand Plaza Mövenpick Media City, and we’ve been down to check it out ahead of its launch.

The restaurant will be headed up by Honduras-born chef Jorge Grande, under the guidance of the British chefs, famed for the excellent folly by Nick & Scott at Souk Madinat Jumeirah – our 2018 Best European Restaurant.

And with names like that behind the dishes, you can expect some exciting offerings. The menu is “designed to impress and surprise even the most discerning tastes”. And there’s going to be a “less is more” approach, with simple food using the freshest produce.

Starters include seared tuna with spring onion, lime, jalapeño and coriander, octopus and fine bean salad, smoked vine tomato and red chilli salsa, burrata with truffle and lemon thyme pesto, and chicken liver and foie gras parfait with medjool dates and caramelised walnuts.

Mains include charcoal-grilled wagyu rib-eye, five-spiced confit duck leg with pancetta, white beans and chorizo, truffle chicken with black peppered cabbage and braised shallots, pumpkin, sage and truffle tortellini with aged Parmesan velouté and 24-hour braised lamb shoulder with barbecued leeks and mint pesto.

There’s also a beef Wellington to share (these two did meet while working for Gordon Ramsay at Claridge’s after all).

The new spot boasts a bar with sparkling grape starting at Dhs30 a glass, so we’re sure it will become a popular post-work spot for people working in the area too.

The space itself is bright and airy, with massive windows and high ceilings. It’s a cosy space though – with a cool bar area for pre- or post-dinner drinks as well.

Venture up the massive spiral staircase and you’ll find two private dining rooms, should you be looking to host a swanky soirée.

The venue can host 80 diners and is being pitched as ideal for everything from leisurely dinners to gourmet business lunch deals, as well as having a bar snack menu.

The chefs also run The Lion by Nick & Scott at The H Dubai, while the restaurant will be a tenth for Gates Hospitality, who also run Reform Social & Grill and Bistro Des Arts.

Also in the hotel is the first The Spa by SensAsia, Bytes for healthy dining, neighbourhood deli Slice, The Grand Lounge for afternoon tea and Twenty Three Rooftop Bar for light bites and mixed drinks.

We'll see you in Media City.
