Chicken Kiev. Bangers and mash. Scotch eggs. Sound like your type of grub? Well you’ll be thrilled to hear there’s a brand-new gastropub in town and it’s serving up all your faves.

The Stag is now open at Citymax Hotel Al Barsha, and it’s dishing up some pub classics at prices that aren’t going to break the bank.

Not only can you get a portion of sausages and mash for Dhs55, you’ll even get a classic Eton mess for Dhs29.

Drinks start at Dhs45 for house grape, while pints are Dhs46 to Dhs49. Mixed drinks are Dhs45. However, there’s also an eight-hour happy hour every day from noon until 8pm serving up selected drinks for Dhs28.

Other classic dishes including fish and chips, steak pie, chicken tikka masala and prawn cocktail. There are also sharing platters including ploughman’s lunch with three types of cheese, cold cuts, bread, salad and even Branston pickle. There’s also a Stag Platter with crab cakes, Scotch eggs, Welsh rarebit and onion rings (Dhs69).

The pub is also non-smoking, and is set on the ground floor of the hotel in Al Barsha. It’s kitted out in a traditional pub-style with brick walls, high wooden tables and leather booths.
