With the weather beginning to heat up, it’s the perfect time to indulge in a sugary frozen treat. Would the summer even be the summer without ice-cream?

Home-grown café Scoopi, which recently re-opened in a new larger location on Jumeirah Beach Road, is already well known for its innovative ice-cream combinations with flavours like saffron-pistachio, rose-chilli and olive oil ice-cream on the menu alongside safer options like Oreo, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate.

The ice-cream joint has launched a new menu packed full of intriguing charcoal-infused sweet treats. It includes tacos for Dhs54, traditional waffles for Dhs48, nachos for Dhs48 as well as bubble waffles, crêpes and waffle lollies - all topped with the likes of ice-cream, sauces and berries (yes, even the nachos).

If you’re not familiar with the charcoal food trend which began a few years ago, activated charcoal is supposedly packed full of health benefits including detoxing your system. If eating charcoal waffles is considered detoxing, let it commence.

Vegan and on the hunt for a creamy sugar fix? Jelly Belly now serves up vegan-friendly ice-cream and 12 dairy-free sorbets.

Those with a sweet tooth will be happy to hear that Scoopi Café will also be opening a new branch in Ras Al Khaimah later on this year so watch this space.
Prices start from Dhs48. Open daily 1pm-1am. Jumeirah Beach Road, www.scoopicafe.com (800 726 674).
