Three new Dubai restaurants to try this weekend

Italian eats and two cool new cafés to visit

Three new Dubai restaurants to try this weekend
Common Grounds

The weekend is nearly here (let’s hear a massive “yay” for that), so it’s time to start planning where you’re going to be heading.

We’ve got three restaurants and cafés you’ve probably not been to yet, that you absolutely have to check out – so you can make the most of your time off work.

Common Grounds
A new addition to the JLT scene, this restaurant from the guys behind Brunswick Eatery, Bar, Terrace in Mall of the Emirates and is the third branch of the restaurant.

The new café is in Almas Tower in JLT and there’s plenty of dishes that fans will find familiar on the menu including breakfast tacos, smashed avocado on toast and acai bowls, as well as the chain’s signature coffees.

There are loads of salads on the menu, too, including burrata, tandoori chicken, greens and grains, kimchi and more. There’s also a Mekong chicken burger, vegan black bean and sesame burger, wild mushroom risotto, vegan rice wraps and more.
Open daily 7am-6pm. Almas Tower, JLT (056 511 8733).

Culinary Boutique
If you’re a fan of kitsch pastel crockery, cute interiors, massive cakes and Insta-worthy coffee, you’ll be pleased to hear that gourmet café Culinary Boutique has opened a second branch at Galleria Al Barsha.

Expect to sample brekkie items like Nutella French toast and shakshouka, while the likes of burrata and fig salad, lobster pasta with saffron, wagyu sliders, and lamb cutlets are on the main course menu.
Open daily 8am-11pm. Galleria Al Barsha, Al Barsha, (04 265 1365).

Two-Michelin-starred Italian joint Marea has now opened its doors in DIFC. It’s the first branch of the brand outside New York and has been brought to the UAE by Altamarea Group which operates nearly 20 restaurants around the world.

Marea, meaning “tide” in Italian, claims to “redefine the seascape of high-end Italian cuisine serving regional foods of Italy”, and that sounds pretty good to us.

The New York restaurant boasts a menu that “reads like a map of the sea”, with a wide variety of shellfish, oysters and fish dishes, as well as home-made pasta.
Open Sat-Tue noon-3pm, 7pm-1am; Wed-Thu noon-3pm, 7pm-3am, Fri noon-3pm, 7pm-midnight. Gate Village 7, DIFC (04 583 6366).
