MasterChef, The TV Experience restaurant welcomes 2017 Australian winner for a week-long residency

We’ve been waiting with bated breath to see who the next celebrity chef to take over the MasterChef, The TV Experience kitchen will be – and the suspense is finally over.

Celebrity chef Diana Chan who took the Australian title in 2017 with her Asian-Aussie fusion, will be curating a five-course tasting menu from Saturday July 6 until Friday July 12, and it sounds smashing.

The week-long limited edition menu kicks off with a pineapple and coconut amuse bouche, followed by a scallop carpaccio with smoked yuzu buttermilk starter.

You can then pick a main course from Australian wagyu rendang (beef rendang with spiced coconut rice, pickled kohlrabi and apple slaw, nuoc cham dressing) or taro and tofu tortellini in a laksa Broth (tortellini filled with taro and tofu with bean sprout and Asian herb salad and laksa broth).

There’ll then be a second palette cleaner before a "Tropical Explosion" dessert (rambutan and rose sorbet, rice cream, feuilletine and buckwheat crumb, hibiscus consommé and rose crystals).

If you fancy trying your hand in the kitchen yourself, Chan and Head Chef Margarita Vaamonde-Beggs are offering fans to swap the remote for a chopping knife, during the first ever masterclass at the restaurant.

The class is open to 12 budding chefs on Sunday July 7 from 5pm, where you’ll be taught to whip up your very own Taro and Tofu Tortellini using pasta made from scratch.

The lesson will cost Dhs400, which includes the entire set menu once you’ve hung up your apron.

Following their masterclass, attendees will also take away an exclusive MasterChef apron and a recipe card signed by Chan. We do love a goodie bag.

We can’t wait to get stuck in.
Dhs215 (food only), Dhs365 (drinks pairing), Dhs400 (cooking class & set menu). Sat Jul 6-Fri Jul 12, noon-3pm, 7pm-11pm. Millennium Place Marina, Dubai Marina, (04 550 8111).
