COYA

If you’re heading to Abu Dhabi for a staycation, why not book yourself a meal at one of the city’s top restaurants, too?

There are more than 50 venues taking part in Tastes of the Capital, powered by Time Out Abu Dhabi, some offering set menus for as little as Dhs99 for three courses.

There are also nine of the reigning Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Award-winners involved. Here’s what you can expect in each of them.

COYA Best Americas
From the moment you enter the colourful, Peruvian-themed dining room, you’ll fall instantly in love with COYA. Everything from the exotic flavours to the refreshing drinks is amazing. There’s a top tasting menu on offer here, with dishes including the chain’s famous guacamole – which is not to be missed, avocado fans – as well as burrata, kale y manchego, arroz nikkei (Chilean sea bass, rice, lime, chilli) and papa y pollo (grilled chicken, with peppers, huayro potato and botija olive). Round it all off with orange and lime churros, dipped in milk chocolate and dulce de leche sauce.
Dhs299. The Galleria, Al Maryah Island (02 306 7000).

Cho Gao Marina Walk Best Asian

With a cool and atmospheric dining room, this is the perfect place to keep cool this summer, and the pan-Asian dishes are just as brilliant as the Asian artefacts and decorations. Every course in the four-course set menu is a total joy and a huge saving on the regular price. Dishes here include wasabi prawns, curry laksa, beef rendang and mango sticky rice.
Dhs199. InterContinental Abu Dhabi, King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz Al Saud Street (02 666 6888).

Hakkasan Best Chinese
This exceptionally stylish Chinese restaurant at Emirates Palace is one of the most glamorous venues in the city. It bagged the Best Chinese gong at the Time Out Abu Dhabi Restaurant Awards last year, and once you try the dim sum, stir-fries, duck pancakes and any of the other dishes on this menu, you’ll immediately understand why. With this tasting menu, you’ll sample some of the restaurant’s very best dishes including dim sum, stir-fried black pepper rib-eye beef, crispy silver cod with XO sauce and more.
Dhs299. Daily 7pm-8pm. Emirates Palace, West Corniche (02 690 7999).

La Petite Maison Best European
This stylish eatery at The Galleria serves some of the most immaculate French cuisine in the capital. It was the well-deserved winner of the Best European title at the Time Out Abu Dhabi restaurant awards last year, and we think this venue is just going to keep getting better and better. The famed burrata with cherry tomatoes is on the special menu, as is escargots, lentil salade and prawns. And don’t miss the côtelettes d’Agneau Vivienne – grilled lamb cutlets with smoked aubergine, which rightly deserve all the high praise.
Dhs299. The Galleria, Al Maryah Island (02 692 9600).

Tamba Best Indian
Found in The Hub at The Mall at World Trade Center Abu Dhabi this creative restaurant serves some of the most creative Indian dishes we’ve ever seen. There are two different menus on offer here – one for Dhs199 and another for Dhs299, so you can choose depending on your budget. Dishes include spicy tuna with avocado, smoked chicken in tomato grayy, lamb chops, tiger prawns and slow-cooked lamb shank rogan. Mains all come with assorted breads, biryani rice and crispy spinach.
Dhs199, Dhs299. The Hub at The Mall at World Trade Center, Abu Dhabi (02 672 8888).

Villa Toscana Best Italian
Found inside The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, this is one of the most glamorous places to eat in the capital. Oozing with Italian class and charm, everything from the superb cheeses to the homemade pasta is absolutely sensational. Again, there are two different menus, at Dhs199 and Dhs299 to choose from, with the first starring tomato and mozzerella salad, artichoke and ricotta ravioli, and grilled lamb rack, and the second featuring burrata, aubergine parmigiana and beef tenderloin.
Dhs199, Dhs299. The St. Regis Abu Dhabi, Nation Towers, West Corniche (02 694 4553).

Li Beirut Best Middle Eastern and North African

At Li Beirut you can expect all of your favourite Lebanese dishes served in a contemporary way. There’s kunafa, mixed grills and all the usual suspects, given a signature twist from the restaurant’s chefs. Guests can also enjoy a glass of grape or hops with their meal. Dig into moutabal, chargrilled chicken wings and pan-seared sea bass, too.
Dhs199. Until Aug 15. Jumeirah at Etihad Towers, West Corniche (02 811 5666).

Catch Best Seafood
The trendy seafood restaurant at Nation Riviera Beach Club serves up beautifully presented fresh seafood in a pretty setting. Situated right by the white sands of the Corniche, you can always head up to the roof after you’ve eaten to admire the views of the Gulf with a drink or two. Dishes include burrata, sushi, beef tacos, grilled sea bass, wok-fried noodles and chocolate fondant.
Dhs199 (available noon-3pm, 6pm-7pm daily). Bookings must be made in advance. Nation Riviera Beach Club, Corniche Road West (02 611 0909).

JW Steakhouse Best Steakhouse

This sophisticated steakhouse is decked out brilliantly with American-style decorations and comfortable seats. The cuts of meat are some of the best in the city, and the staff always make you feel welcome. You’ll get classics like jumbo crab cakes, black Angus striploin and New York cheesecake here.
Dhs299. Marriott Hotel Downtown Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Rashid Bin Saeed Street (02 304 7777).
