For chic dining or post-work drinks DIFC is a top place to visit. And it’s set to get even better this winter thanks to an influx of new restaurants and bars in the area.

Asian restaurant Shanghai Me is set to open in DIFC in October.

Apparently inspired by the “glamour of 1930s Shanghai”, it’s promising “decadent detailing and aromatic cuisine”. Interiors come from architect Michele Bonan and will be art-deco.

The new restaurant will be in The Exchange building in DIFC and will boast a bar and lounge, bamboo-filled terrace and private dining area. There will also be a late-night DJ to keep the party going.

And when it comes to food, we can expect a blend of East Asian flavours.

The new restaurant comes from Bulldozer Group, the team behind BASE and GAIA among others.

“Our vision is to create solid, innovative concepts designed to cater to Dubai’s cosmopolitan clientele,” said Evgeny Kuzin, Co-Founder and Managing Partner of Bulldozer. “We are proud to introduce another home-grown concept to DIFC, in an area that houses some of the world’s most prestigious restaurant brands.

“We have taken our time to explore each and every element of the concept, in order to create a playful, energetic environment that highlights the strength of Dubai’s culinary landscape and can be exported around the world.”

DIFC seems to be the place to be this winter, as luxury bar A.E.R. is due to open next week. Standing in the space that formerly held 7 Elephants, the lounge offers a 100ft bar and massive outdoor terrace.
