Three vegan events to check out in Dubai in October

Vegan or vegetarian and looking for things to do in Dubai. There are three special plant-based meals happening this month and it’s time to check them out. Whether you’re after a veggie buffet or a plant-based Italian brunch, we’ve got you covered.

Asian brunch at Ultra Brasserie
Plant-based group Dubai Vegan Days has teamed up with Ultra Brasserie in Emaar Square, Downtown Dubai for the special brunch on Friday October 11. Vegan dishes will include the choice of either a vegan bowl featuring grilled tofu, avocado, flax seed and beetroot hummus, or a dish of greens and grains, with helpings of savoury grains, broccoli, green beans, avocado and green apple tossed in a pesto dressing. For the main course you have a choice of smashed avocado and nuts on toast, hearty grill chipotle barbecue tofu with green beans, broccoli, wild mushrooms and sprouts. Desserts include an organic quinoa slice with peanut butter and banana. You’ll also get fresh orange juice and water included. The event will run from 11.30am and will set you back just Dhs99.

Italian brunch at The Daily
Dubai Vegan Days has teamed up with Rove Healthcare City for a vegan brunch on Saturday October 5. The brunch is being created by chef Zendy Marsam of Flavors by Zendy and will star a range of classic Italian dishes. And it’ll set you back just Dhs99, or Dhs49 for kids. Dishes on the menu will include a hearty, plant-based lasagne and gnocci with creamy avocado pesto. There’s also a warm vegetable tart and bruschetta. Of course there will be an extensive salad station, with raw veg, mixed salads and plenty of vegan dressings. For dessert tuck into raspberry panna cotta and vegan tiramisu.

Vegetarian dinner at Spice Island
Spice Island is hosting a special meat-free feast in honour of World Vegetarian Day next month. And the best news? It’s a total bargain at Dhs139 with house beverages. The Veggie Tables event will be held at the Deira restaurant on Monday October 7, from 6.30pm until 11.30pm, and will be fully vegetarian- and vegan-friendly. There will be more than 50 dishes on offer, including salads, soups and mains from Asia, Italy, India and the Middle East. There will also be three live cooking stations where you can get dishes including Mongolian grills, homemade falafel wraps or pasta. Love pizza? There’s plenty of that too.And there’s a special section for vegans with dishes including okra bil salsa, dal curry, fried rice, stuffed peppers, grilled aubergine with spinach and tomato sauce and desserts.
