Over the past year options for vegans in Dubai have grown massively – from dedicated brunches to the opening of the world’s largest vegan restaurant, Veganity, in City Walk.

And fancy restaurants have got in on the action too, with names such as La Petite Maison, Marina Social and Bistrot Bagatelle showing off superb plant-based options on their menus.

Now it’s the time of Time Out Dubai’s Best Restaurant 2019 Il Borro Tuscan Bistro.

The ever-popular venue at Jumeirah Al Naseem has launched a vegan menu for the very first time, and it sounds delicious.

“Authentic Italian cuisine is packed with lots of colourful vegetables and fresh, flavourful herbs. Based on this, we developed a sensational meat-free, dairy-free Italian dishes with a Tuscan twist,” says the team.

“Our mission with this new menu is to highlight the extensive culinary, quality and diversity of Tuscan cuisine by increasing the awareness of sustainable and vegan products. We continually search for new products and flavours, by using wholesome, seasonal and now also vegan ingredients.”

Starters include beetroot tartare with blackberries and roasted hazelnuts, pumpkin and courgette carpaccio with tomato pesto and steamed pumpkin with tofu cheese and sautéed spinach. Mains include Tuscan spaghetti with fresh basil and almond pesto, risotto with peppers and salsa verde and aubergine parmigiana with vegan béchamel.

Round it all off with a vegan chocolate tart with caramelised banana ice cream or espresso crème caramel.

All dishes fall under the Dhs110 mark, too.

Now the weather is getting cooler you’ll find us by the Turtle Lagoon, with a fully-loaded plate of plant-based pasta.
