Celebrity chef Greg Malouf is back on the Dubai dining scene as the consulting chef of two new restaurants.

Phoenicia is now open at JA Beach Hotel in Jebel Ali, while a second branch of the restaurant is set to open at JA Oasis Beach Tower in JBR soon.

The menus come from popular chef Greg Malouf, who was previously behind Dubai restaurants Zahira and Cle.

Phoenicia was an ancient Mediterranean civilisation that originated in Lebanon, and the Phoenicians were famous tradesmen, who traded saffron, grape, figs, salted fish and produced olive oil.

The two new restaurants promise to be “authentic neighbourhood eateries that celebrate the enduring popularity and history of Middle Eastern cuisine”.

The sharing-style menu promises a “contemporary twist on the Middle Eastern classics” and will be “simple and rustic”, with dishes including hazelnut falafel and sea bass sayadeeya, dishes include baklava ice cream sandwich.

In JA Ocean Beach Tower, interiors are traditional, with handwoven baskets, fishing-style décor and more nodding to the fishing roots of the name. While in JA Beach Hotel there’s an Arabesque style, with Middle Eastern artefacts.

“We are confident that our guests are going to love Phoenicia, that’s why we have opened it in two locations,” said Vice President of Food & Beverage, Rob Cunningham.

“We are working with multi award-winning chef Greg Malouf to create menus that we know will keep guests coming back for more. These are the classics you know and love, but with a fresh perspective and twist that Greg is renowned for”.

Throughout November you can get a top deal too, as part of Time Out Dubai’s Eat, Sip, Save campaign.

You can buy any main course and you’ll get a free starter or dessert plus a mixed drink completely free.

What a bargain, and what better way to check out a new spot?
