The Irish Village, Al Reef Bakery and Arabian Tea House to open at Expo 2020 Dubai

Expo 2020 Dubai is on the horizon, and we’re getting increasingly more excited here at Time Out Dubai. Especially as we now know some of the restaurants that will be serving up meals at the 173-day event.

Among the favourites selected is Time Out Dubai’s Pub of the Year, The Irish Village, which will have a branch at Expo 2020.

It will be joined by Dubai restaurant brands Arabian Tea House, Al Farwania, Seashell Cafeteria, Dampa Seafood Grill and stalwarts Al Reef Bakery and Al Khabbaz. Firas Sweets, Hummus Spot, Rogue Coffee and Twisty Treats will also be on the line-up.

Other brands include Saj 2 Go, coffee and doughnut specialists Doh, Flower Café and the camel milk-inspired Majlis Café.

The home-grown brands have been selected by Expo due to their popularity in Dubai, and are all small and medium-sized, offering “comfort and consistency”.

“Expo 2020 will be a foodie destination in its own right and we urge visitors to bring a hefty appetite so they can explore the wonderful diversity and generous hospitality that the UAE is renowned for,” said Darren Tse, Director – Concessions and Programming, Commercial, Expo 2020 Dubai.

“Adding colour and texture to Expo 2020 Dubai’s offering, these homegrown brands will shine a light on Dubai’s fun and flourishing food scene, and inspire millions of visitors to Expo 2020 Dubai to try some tantalising flavours from here in the UAE and around the globe.”

Ali Al Rais, Founder of Arabian Tea House, said: “I am very excited that Arabian Tea House, the first Emirati restaurant, will be showcased to millions of international visitors at The World’s Greatest Show. I believe that the best way to explore different cultures is through food, and Expo 2020 Dubai offers the perfect opportunity and platform to demonstrate Emirati hospitality.”

Colm McLoughlin, Vice Chairman and CEO of The Irish Village, added: “We are thrilled to be part of Expo 2020 Dubai. The eyes of the world will be focused on the UAE when it hosts this global event. Dubai is known for its amazing infrastructure, market-leading events and technological innovations – without doubt, it will deliver a world-class event. The Irish Village is looking forward to serving its award-winning food and offering an authentic Irish welcome to local, regional and overseas visitors.”

There will be more than 200 eateries at Expo 2020 Dubai offering more than 50 different cuisines.

We can’t wait to find out what else is in store.
