Vegan in Dubai: Veganuary news
Emirates Airline

Whether you're full-time vegan in Dubai or you're just trialling Veganuary, there's loads going on in the vegan world this month. Here are some of the highlights. For everything you need to know about being vegan in Dubai, click here.

In-flight vegan food with Emirates Airline
While vegan meals can already be pre-booked on all flights and classes, Emirates is including a plant-based dish on its standard menu in First and Business Class menus on flights from Dubai to USA, Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa and Addis Ababa. And due to popular demand, a special vegan option will also be available on Economy flights to Addis Ababa in Ethiopia. Last year, Emirates served 345,000 special plant-based meals on board and the airline already has more than 170 vegan recipes. The new and delicious-sounding dishes include a spiced tofu and vegetable stir fry with steamed wild rice and tandoori broccolini, shitake mushroom ravioli with coriander pesto and edamame, a spiced vegan stew with peppers and beans served with corn cakes, chimichurri and tofu aioli, and an Ethiopian-style spicy red lentil stew served with sautéed spinach, spiced potatoes and carrots.

Italian set menu at BiCE
BiCE Ristorante in Jumeirah Beach Residence has partnered up with Dubai-based vegan celebrity Kamilla Omarzay to create a special vegan set menu in celebration of Veganuary. Omarzay, who is known for showcasing delicious vegan creations on her blog and Instagram page, launched her own brand ‘The Snack Society’ last year. Together with chef Davide – the head chef at BiCE Ristorante – Kamilla Omarzay has created a three-course set menu that’s 100 percent vegan-friendly and the special menu will be available for dinner from Wednesday January 15 until Friday January 31. The menu features mushroom and black winter truffle dumplings to start, followed by aubergine moussaka with vegan “minced meat”, homemade basil and tomato sauce and vegan Parmesan, and ends with a raspberry waffle topped with dark chocolate fudge, a sorbet made using fresh berries and hot dark chocolate.
