Five new restaurants to try in Dubai

Looking for somewhere new to eat this week in Dubai? We’ve rounded up five brand-new restaurants that you need to check out now, from burger joints to food halls, there’s sure to be something for you.

Depachika Food Hall
Depachika Food Hall is now open at the new Dubai shopping mall and looks to be a one-stop-shop for foodies on the Palm. In Japan a depachika is a basement-level food hall in a department store, coming from the Japanese word depa – meaning department store – with the Japanese word for basement, chika, and the first one was created in 1936. It’s Dubai’s first version of a depachika, and is modelled on a traditional depachika, selling everything from deli-style ingredients to snacks, gourmet presents and full meals. Most of the outlets at Depachika are home-grown brands, and you’ll no doubt recognise some of the names, including Lime Tree Café, Kilikio by Mythos, Salmontini, 1762, Massimo’s Gelato and Moishi Ice Cream. Retailers include Royce Chocolate, The Lighthouse, Florette, Lakrids and more.
Open Sun-Thu 10am-10pm, Fri-Sat 10am-midnight. Palm Jumeirah,

Fancy some Korean fried chicken? Kimpo, which can be found at Conrad Dubai on Sheikh Zayed Road, is being headed up by chef Sung Choul Lee and offers an authentic chimaek experience – a pairing of fried chicken and hops, which is extremely popular in Korea. Fried chicken aside, the menu features an array of East Asian specialties, each with a twist, including a bulgogi sloppy joe served with kimchi and a homemade barbecue sauce, an “east-meets-west” take on tacos served with slow-cooked minced meat, pickled onions, kimchi mayonnaise and lettuce, and a pizza topped with salmon, kimchi mayonnaise, yuzu jelly and sesame seeds..
Open Tue-Sun 5pm-2am. Conrad Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Road (04 444 7444).

Leen’s Casual to Gourmet
Formerly known as The Surf Café, Leen’s re-launched late last year, and is now open at a new location on Bluewaters Dubai. You’ll be able to get dishes including black cod, cauliflower steaks, chocolate lava cake and the Mediterranean breakfast. It’s also the first time that a Leen’s venue has introduced a new drinks menu, featuring hops and grape options.
Open Sat-Wed 8am-midnight, Thu-Fri 8am-1am. Bluewaters Dubai,

Le Burger
Vienna’s famed burger restaurant Le Burger has opened up in Dubai – the first international opening for the brand. The Austrian fast-casual burger joint has opened its doors right next to Ski Dubai at Mall of the Emirates, serving up signature burgers, including its Worth Melting For, a beef bacon cheese burger that’s drenched in melted cheddar cheese sauce, the fig, dates and goat's cheese Fata Morgana Burger, grilled banana and peanut butter in the Elvis Burger and a pineapple, cream cheese and sweet chilli version. There are also vegan-friendly burgers to try.
Open daily 10am-midnight. Mall of the Emirates, Al Barsha,

The Locale
The Locale, a fresh neighbourhood eatery that aims to “bring local heritage and diversity to one spot” is now open at new Palm Jumeirah hotel Andaz The Palm. The restaurant hosts breakfast, lunch and dinner, including the power protein salad made with organic quinoa, edamame, almonds, kidney beans, roasted chickpeas and chipotle lime dressing. Other signature dishes include the avocado hummus bil rubiyan and al maida olive oil, chef Gani’s home-style cooked chicken curry with jasmine rice, and garlic and herbs marinated lamb chop. There’s the locally caught prawn Malay curry served with coconut rice and for the fish-lovers, roasted orange spotted trevally and roasted local baby marrow served with dukkha spices and tahini.
