In an Instagram post on April 30, the restaurant announced that after 30 months, and its strongest year of operations to date, it would temporarily closed while the team revaluated in light of the global pandemic.
And now, the award-winning Umm Suqeim eatery returns, and will be serving breakfast, lunch and everything in between daily from 8am to 5pm, with evenings reserved for one-off and special events.
Its new menu is split four main categories featuring plates that celebrate traditional home-cooking as well as more “daring, modern” Balkan cooking, all using locally sourced, seasonal ingredients wherever possible.
New dishes that will be available to try come July 20, from a restaurant that promotes a “slow-living lifestyle” include a fantastic-looking Adriatic octopus with fennel sauce, wagyu beef cevap tartare, and sarma – sour cabbage rolls with minced beef and smoked wagyu brisket.
But fans of its breakfast dishes needn’t be alarmed – 21 Grams’ founders Stasha Toncev and Urosh Mitrasinovic are committed to keeping some of their bestselling breakfast dishes on the menu, including komplet egg and cheese burek.
