Café Isan, which was crowned the Best Thai restaurant in Dubai at the Time Out Dubai Restaurant Awards 2020, has introduced a brand-new menu featuring vegan versions of some of its most popular dishes. So if you’re on the hunt for some award-winning and pocket-friendly plant-based Thai food, make a beeline to this petite JLT spot.
The new plant-based menu includes four starters, two soups, two salads, six main courses and curries, an array of noodles and rice, and even dessert.
For starters, there are freshly made spring rolls, laab cakes (which are made using papaya instead of the traditional meat and fish sauce), a garlicky cabbage dish and grilled satay tofu and mushroom skewers.
Mains include a classic pad Thai noodle dish, a regional street-style mix of veggies, tofu and Thai basil, sweet and sour tofu with cashew nuts, a zingy ginger tofu phat khing, and an array of classic curries including Thai green curry and a must-try massaman.
If you fancy something lighter, go for the papaya or glass noddle salads which are both served with a tangy dressing, or the plant-based tom kha coconut or tom yum mushroom soups.
Sweet tooth? Round off your meal with either mango sticky rice or the tub tim grob – water chestnuts in iced coconut milk.
Being vegan never sounded so tasty.
