An Indian fine-dining restaurant in Souk Al Bahar

Time Out Says

Souk Al Bahar has been the setting of many a spectacular night out for countless residents and tourists, mainly owing to the stunning views of The Dubai Fountain and Burj Khalifa (come on, admit it, who’s not felt all giddy while filming the superb fountain show?).

Self-acclaimed Indian fine dining restaurant Patiala, while not having those views to boast, does offer a slew of inventive, creative dishes on dedicated menus to suit both vegetarians and meat eaters. With today’s ever-changing health and eco-conscious attitudes towards vegetarianism, you’d do far worse than sample the garam masala aubergine “steak”, which is deliciously flavoursome and somewhat smoky, while the lucknowi tikki chaat presents three delightfully fried potato and vegetable patties. Main courses, meanwhile are a bit on the heavy side – with the lotus stem kofta and dal makhani both coming in dense, creamy sauces. Both are bursting with flavour, but it sits heavier than you’d hope from an evening meal.

Elsewhere you’ll find plenty of meat and seafood, including salmon tikka, tandoori lobster, Afghani chicken tikka and more.

There’s also a sectioned off bar area that’s more to placate smokers than it is for a digestif. For a good quality Indian meal out, there are far worse options.
