Time Out Says
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011A sumptuous feast for the eyes, Rainforest Café should be a brilliant place to take kids who have difficulty keeping their bums on seats for more than 30 seconds. And, in terms of in-house entertainment, it certainly wins hands down. The thundering tropical storm, which runs on a loop and was repeated every 20 minutes or so, was truly thrilling to behold. Tigers roared, elephants trumpeted, waved their trunks and flapped their ears, while the chimps and gorillas beat their chests with King Kong-style panache. Unfortunately, the food and the service played second fiddle to the brilliant theming. The menu was uninspiring, serving up the usual combo of burgers, chips, grills, Mexican options and synthetic desserts. The serving staff also behaved as though they were lost in a rainforest, because they kept straying from the ‘kitchen to table’ route. As such, the service was so excruciatingly slow that it made us wonder whether we’d bother venturing back to the forest.
