Dhow ka Aangan, winner of Time Out Dubai’s Best Indian award in 2011, is one of those hidden gems that’s out in the open – good food, excellent service and an overall pleasant atmosphere. Diners are spoiled for choice with the extensive menu and service is impeccable. Staff are always on-hand, offering their recommendations and help with tailoring these to the spice toleration of the table. The meat in dishes such as the zafrani murgh malai tikka is tender, meanwhile the baingan ka bhartha (mashed aubergine) gives an interesting taste to the Indian classic. In fact, diners will be hard pressed to complain about anything at this eatery; there’s even entertainment by way of musicians, singers and dancers. A word of warning though: book a table before you head out, as the restaurant fills up quickly and people without bookings can get turned away. A good choice for an Indian dinner, it’s worth the price and the trip to Bur Dubai.
