Al-fresco Arabic restaurant with live music on Jumeirah Beach Road
Time Out Says
From Time Out Dubai Eating Out 2011It’s difficult not to be wowed by Al Khaimah's dramatic location; its al-fresco setting near the water’s edge makes it a superb winter venue. Disappointingly, the restaurant's bland, canteen-like interior and impersonal atmosphere are not ideal for those four hot months of the year. And that's not the only thing in need of a makeover. The distinctly below-par food from a vast selection of Lebanese staples make this Arabic restaurant in dire need of a culinary revamp.
Classic mezze like the fattoush and houmous were not too thrilling and poorly portioned, whilst the mixed grills were over-greasy and lukewarm. Did we mention the very mediocre service too, thanks to the nonchalant waiting staff? But Time Out can't fault Al Khaimah for its romantic credentials come the cooler months. Few Arabic restaurants in the city can match its unique beachside ambience, complete with live oud players and private majlis tents. Sadly, many of them serve up more consistent, accomplished and considerably cheaper Lebanese grub.
