Time Out Says
It’s the first UAE branch of the popular chain, which has more than 140 locations in Italy. Here in Dubai there are more than 20 different toppings to choose from, so get ready to make some decisions.
Each pizza on display is priced by weight, which means the meal can be as large or inexpensive as your appetite. It also means you can choose multiple pieces to get a taster of each one, should you find it tough to choose. If you’ve found the perfect topping, head back for more and the staff will whip it in and out of the oven in a jiffy. Prices are affordable too, ranging from Dhs19 to Dhs35 a slice.
With this opportunity to control the size of our slice, we consider our options. Served at the right temperature, each slice has a rich tomato base with a range of tasty toppings. They may be pre-made, but that doesn’t affect the quality. Opt for the truffle and mushroom or the simple Margherita slices for a taste you can trust. If you’re feeling adventurous, the potato and bacon version is delicious, too.
Alongside the traditional slices (AKA, hot), there’s also a range of chilled ones, recommended to eaten cold. Don’t be put off. We try the salmon and rocket version, which, although slightly unusual at first, is excellent. The thinly sliced salty salmon pairs well with the peppery rocket for a cooling summer dish. There may be no sides, but you won’t miss them anyway.
If you’ve still got room – which we somehow have – there’s a dessert pizza, too. Topped with strawberries and a thin layer of Nutella, it looks a tad flimsy, but once heated through it’s a surprisingly light and sweet way to round of the meal.
If you’re a true lover of all things pizza, Alice Pizza makes for a pleasant venue to visit for a slice at the beach.
The Bottom Line
A delightful pizza spot with a simple pricing method.
