Time Out Says
Housed in the Emerald Palace Kempinski Dubai, the restaurant covers a huge space.
Indoors it’s elegantly flamboyant and moodily lit, and outside there’s a huge terrace area that overlooks the hotel pool and across towards the Marina.
Due to its size, don’t be surprised to find it isn’t packed to the rafters. However, service is swift and friendly and it’s a decent choice for a date night – if you’re looking to impress.
The menu comes from top US chef Chris Jaeckle, who was behind the original New York outet, which closed in 2016. And it’s an interesting amalgamation of Italian dishes with Japanese influences – pastas, home made ragus and grills alongside peppered tuna maki and green tea misu dessert.
If you’re a fan of a classic carbonara, you’re in luck. The al dente pasta comes in a lip-smackingly rich sauce, with Parmesan and black truffle for extra depth. It’s deliciously indulgent. Another must-try is the risotto all’onda, a creamy curried rice dish with king prawns that is super-tasty.
With pastas mostly falling under Dhs100, it’s not as expensive as you might fear either.
If you’re more a fan of low-key, cosy Italian restaurants this won’t be for you, but for tasty food in a grand setting, all’onda’s worth a try.
