Time Out Says

The people behind Almaz by Momo’s design have done an excellent job in creating an attractive lounge environment, and it’s hard to believe you’re still in Mall of the Emirates. Ornate lanterns throw shadows across the exquisitely tiled walls and light up the sparkly domed ceiling, below which there’s intimate cushioned seating, a glitzy bar area and a separate shisha room towards the rear. Almaz’s kitchen serves delightful Moroccan food that’s authentic, well presented and delicious. The tagines and couscous dishes are especially good, and even some of the less North African-sounding starters work well, the menu complementing the cool, contemporary vibe. Drinks-wise, there’s much to choose from, including some rather creative and tasty mocktails. Service isn’t perfect, but it’s still slick and staff are friendly. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner, but we’d recommend heading here after nightfall, when the DJ spins upbeat yet still traditional Arabic tunes and there’s a lively buzz.
