Time Out Says

If it wasn’t for a lack of atmosphere and the sterile setting, Ananta would easily be one of our favourite Indian restaurants in Dubai. The food is just that great. Based at The Oberoi in Business Bay, this modern eatery serves up an array of inventive, contemporary cuisine that uses influence from across the globe to create unique and delicious dishes. For instance, the spiced beetroot and goats’ cheese gallette, with charcoal yoghurt, coriander dust and melon chaat, is a tasty, tasteful revelation, as is the banana-leaf wrapped masala foie gras. If you’re not impressed by such fusion cuisine, however, there are a number of more traditional options, and these are very well prepared, too. But it’s in its inventiveness that Ananta really impresses. As we said, though, this restaurant suffers from a lack of ambience and style – throughout the week it’s very quiet, and the straightforward, unimaginative décor is at odds with the creativity the chefs unleash on the food. With more customers and a few design tweaks (and perhaps a spot of entertainment), however, Ananta could easily be up there with the best of them.
