Time Out Says
Anar boasts an enviable location; slap bang in the middle of Madinat Jumeirah, with tables spilling out from the elegant interior onto the ever-popular walkways that line the waterways. It’s therefore a great option if you’re entertaining guests, yet the potential downside of such a fine location is that a restaurant blessed with a steady stream of tourists at its doorstep needn’t try particularly hard. Thankfully, though, Anar’s classic Persian cuisine doesn’t disappoint, offering an authentic enough taste of Iran, albeit served with a Western edge. The high prices, however, are a different matter, and may well leave a sour taste. It’s not that the various mezze and salads, lamb and chicken kebabs, seafood dishes and larger platters don’t satisfy, but there’s no escaping the sense that you’re being overcharged, made to pay extra for the location and fancy presentation. That said, Anar is invariably busy, especially during the cooler months of the year, and we can’t see that changing.
