As You Fish
Time Out Says
The venue, which opened in July in Umm Suqeim, faces onto Jumeirah Beach Hotel.Set in a whitewashed villa, you’ll find colourful art splayed across the walls, with a scattering of mismatched cushions strewn around on garden furniture.
Step inside and you’ll stumble upon the catch of the day gawping at you from a bed of ice.
The fish look super-fresh and there’s a good spread of them sat chilling, awaiting your pick.
The menu is prepared to order and the variety of dishes is brilliant, with everything from seafood platters, fish and chips and chowders to lobster mac ’n’ cheese, sliders, tacos and more.
But the star of the show is that fresh fish counter, where you can pick your fish, select a marinade (options include garlic butter or coconut and lime) and the cooking method – including grilled, roasted, steamed and fried.
It’s prepared exquisitely – and doesn’t last very long once it’s served. The chunky flesh is infused with flavour (we go for Lebanese harissa), and the skin is crispy and moreish.
The lobster roll is a hit too, with massive chunks of shellfish nestled within soft bread.
We think we’ve found a new favourite here and as long as they’re fishing, we’re eating.
