Time Out Says
Since launching in late 2018, there are now more than 50 eateries in the area serving up everything from seafood to dim sum, Greek eats and burgers.
And one of the most prominent in the area is Asian District.
Spread across 2,000 sqm, the split-level, street food-style restaurant serves up a huge range of cuisines from different kitchens and has seating for up to 600 diners.
Despite its size, it’s busy when we visit – seems we’re not the only ones eager to check out the market-style restaurant, which offers dishes from Thailand, Singapore, Japan, China, Korea and Vietnam.
There’s a massive outdoor terrace overlooking the water, which is fantastic in winter, but as no expense has been spared on the Asian-themed decorations – with every inch covered with colourful umbrellas, paper lanterns and Vietnamese hats – inside is also a fun place to dine.
It’s hard to choose from such an expansive menu but we kick off with salt and pepper squid, which arrives piled with fried onion, garlic and spices.
The tasty appetiser doesn’t last long, and nor does the tangy beef tenderloin teppanyaki.
The tender chunks of beef come marinated in a delicious sauce, and a separate pot of ginger dressing adds an extra element of sweet and spiciness to an already exciting dish.
Meanwhile, the Korean-style sea bass is a beautiful piece of light white fish, coated in a rich and sticky sauce that ticks all
The Singapore-style noodles are not disastrous, but require some enthusiastic soy sauce dousing to rescue the plate from its initially bland presentation.
It’s all pretty good value, with most dishes falling under Dhs50, and the fun and casual setting, combined with the colourful dishes, mean you’ll have a great time if you love Asian food.
