Aspen by Kempinski

Excellent, upmarket café fare in slightly less impressive hotel surrounds

Time Out Says

You’d understand the café’s name better if there were views of nearby Ski Dubai to complement your frothy coffee or lunchtime bite, but instead you’ll have to make do with the rather less entertaining, albeit far more elegant, surrounds of the Kempinski Hotel. While you’d not go out of your way to dine at Aspen – it’s more of an ‘already in the area’ kind of place – the excellent food will reward your efforts. The small iPad menu offers just a modest selection of salads, hot and cold canapés, antipasti and more substantial dishes such as burger sliders, sandwiches and mezze, but all are presented and prepared to the high standard you’d expect of a five-star venue, brought to your table by courteous, well-trained staff, and this makes up for the hotel lobby setting. The drinks will also delight, especially those with a penchant for tea, and they do a good coffee, too, but it all comes at considerable cost, making Aspen more of a one-off destination than a regular haunt.
