Time Out Says

Clutch your reservation confirmation closely to hand to reach Ayamna. You’ll find it off The Avenues in Atlantis The Palm, but behind two lines of security. All of this raises expectations, as does the grand staircase leading down to the restaurant. At the bottom of the stairs you’ll find a stylish venue with modern Arabic design. Grand pillars, white furniture with splashes of blue and large mirrors create an inviting atmosphere for a laid-back meal. Unfortunately, though, the food doesn’t quite live up to the setting. It’s an ambitious menu of Lebanese classics that have been inventively tweaked. There’s mezze, which can be hit and miss. The hummus is excellent, and the unlimited free bread is welcome. Salads such as fattoush are presented excellently, but the flavours and seasoning can be overwhelming. Sujok and scrambled egg sounds interesting but is too salty. Ayamna’s signature main course, baked puff pastry ouzi, is the standout. It’s ceremoniously cut open by the staff, and the aromatic mix of rice, vegetables, lamb and chicken makes for a hearty meal. It’s not too expensive at Ayamna, and there is definitely potential here. With a few more tweaks, it could become a go-to Lebanese spot on the Palm.
