Time Out Says

Everything about this little JLT eatery is homely and comforting. From the décor – rustic, colour-washed wooden chairs, tables and cabinets – to the trinkets and condiments stacked on shelves dotted around the space. And the flowery motifs on the high-backed chairs make it feel like you’re eating in grandma’s dining room with the whole family.

Staff are friendly and eager to please, proud of their daily specials and they’re keen for you to try them. They’ll explain the offer – handy if you’re not au fait with fatat, fekharat and oallayat – and they’ll happily recommend their menu favourites.

We opt for a couple of classics to start – hummus and fattoush salad – and we’re instantly impressed with the creamy texture and taste of the former, and freshness, crunch and zing of the latter.

For mains, we go with our waiter’s picks of Maryam’s fatet musakhan with rice – deliciously tender shreds of chicken mixed in yoghurt for a gooey comfort food mix minus the guilt – and kofta in tahini sauce. It has that wonderful home-made edge without any pretensions to
fine dining or added flourishes. And it’s just brilliant.

A meal for two won’t set you back much more than Dhs100 and you’ll leave wholly satisfied. Get yourself down here now.

The bottom line

JLT gem with great food for a good price.
