BB Social Dining
Time Out Says
Actually, even if you don’t, and you haven’t yet checked out this brilliant Asian-meets-Middle Eastern eatery in DIFC, cancel your plans and get booked in.
BB owes a lot of its charm to its setting. Spread over three floors, with a narrow spiral staircase leading throughout, it has the feel of an old townhouse-turned-bistro that wouldn’t feel out of place in any ancient European city.
BB’s menu is all based around the ‘B’s: bao, bites and bowls, with dishes ranging from classic Asian (think Vietnamese pho) to fusions such as shiso-flavoured beef tartare and edamame hummus.
The feta-laden kale tabbouleh and nutty, shiso-sprinkled beef tartare are absolute winners, while of the bao, the sweet, sesame-glazed beef of the ‘habibi’ bun is the hero.
Portions, including the bowls, are small – ideal for sharing (isn’t everything now?) or a light bite. And we recommend you do keep it light, because desserts are unmissable.
Ice cream lollipops are upscale and nostalgic all at once, while the baonut with fresh strawberry jam and chantilly cream will leave you wondering why anyone ever bothered using scones for their afternoon tea.
Don’t have a sweet tooth? Borrow one for these dainty desserts. Attractive, creative and just the right size, they’re the perfect metaphor for BB itself.
You’d B mad not to try it.
