Time Out Says

Hidden in a corner of Lafayette Gourmet, BeStro, or “Super Natural Kitchen”, is the awesome raw vegan brainchild of chef Hayley Mac and Riath Hamed. Don’t let the small, characterless seating area put you off trying this restaurant, or little shop selling the likes of chia seeds and nut milk muslins. BeStro serves incredibly healthy and surprisingly delicious dishes that are free of meat, dairy, sugar, gluten and chemicals. The carefully-crafted menu features no more than around ten plates with international influence, alongside a couple of special daily desserts. From the description, you might find it hard to imagine how such a dish could be produced vegan, never mind raw. But rest assured that even the most resistant of meat-eater would find them difficult to fault, as they’re packed full of flavour and really quite filling. Staff take care of you, even if you’re a trepid first-timer in the health-conscious crowd. From the moment they offer you a free glass of citrus-infused water, until they hurriedly hand you the bill, service is excellent. And when the bill does arrive, you’ll be in for a pleasant surprise, considering how much health foods can set you back these days.
