In-mall dining delivers an Italian experience above standard food court fodder

Time Out Says

Biella fills a convenient gap between a food court and a fine-dining offering. The upscale chain serves Mediterranean-inspired Italian food to shoppers seeking a proper sit-down meal rather than a hasty snack. The generous salads and antipasti are probably large enough for most pit stops, with the beef carpaccio and seafood salad being highlights. A selection of perfunctory pasta dishes offers the usual combination of sauces (Bolognese, arrabbiata, carbonara, alfredo, etc) and little in the way of surprises. Main courses, however, are more ambitious considering the setting. The slow-braised lamb shank with its accompanying borlotti beans (an Italian favourite) would not be out of place on pricier menus, and the baked sea bream is just one of many seafood offerings worth a sample. A wide selection of desserts such as a tiramisu, panna cotta and a hazelnut semifreddo also demand attention from shoppers in search of a sweet treat.
