A decent Thai chain in Dubai Festival City Mall
Time Out Says
While the Black Canyon restaurant at JBR The Walk might have location, the outlet at Dubai Festival City Mall has the upper hand in terms of ambience. The interior, though somewhat dated and obsolete, feels much less like a sterile fast-food joint and more like a restaurant in comparison to the chain at JBR. Both restaurants are unlicensed and a read through the menu suggest the show begins with the usual suspects: plenty of deep-fried appetisers, such as spring rolls, money bags, fish cakes and a daunting portion of deep-fried calamari. The huge photos of items on the menus tend to cheapen the feel of the restaurant, but if you can get past that, you'll find mains including chicken and galangal soup, somewhat average pad thai noodles with prawns and stir-fried mixed vegetables (mushrooms, baby corn, bak choy), which seem to be the standout. Some of the dishes border on the Chinese side of cuisine and if you're not feeling like either, there are also steamed fish and a kid's menu with club sandwiches.
