Black Iris Café
Time Out Says
Black Iris is in the centre of Uptown Mirdiff, and while there’s plenty of seating inside (as well as a play area for kids), it’s busier on the outdoor terrace, with football playing on the TVs and heaters for cooler evenings. The food is mainly Mediterranean, with a variety of salads and a selection of sandwiches, wraps, pasta and burgers. Not all of the sandwiches are Mediterranean, though, and it’s unclear from where they’re meant to be; the chicken fajita wrap, for example, tastes a lot more like a shawarma. Still, the friendly staff are quick to serve food, while the drinks on offer are Arabic, ranging from Moroccan tea to Turkish coffee. The beverages go well with the desserts, of which there are lots to choose from – crepes, cakes and ice cream, or all three together.
