Time Out Says
The décor is fun and vibrant, and has all the holiday feels – from palm tree cushions, to colourful paintings, picnic-style tables and a giant pink shark coming out of the wall.
The menu is fairly limited if you’re not after calorific treats, however, as there are no healthy options (or anything green) in sight.
Burgers include beef, chicken, fish and veggie, while there’s also a loaded hot dog and sides. And although it’s all fine, it’s not going to blow you away.
The crispy fish burger we can only assume took its name from the unequal balance of batter to fish, which makes it crispy (greasy), but not very fishy.
The hot dog is better – piled up with pineapple and jalepeño relish. The beef sausage itself is on the dry side, being inexplicably cooked butterfly-style.
Onion rings are a winner though – massive circles of lightly battered and crisp onion.
For dessert there’s a large menu of soft-serve ice cream sundaes – with punny names. The “You Had Me At Gateau” is nice enough, but the brownie chunks and chocolate sauce are rather sparse in comparision to the mountains of vanilla ice cream, and at Dhs44 it’s on the pricey side for what it is.
Blowfish may have all the style, but it needs a work on the substance for us to return.
